EDUCATION
• Bachelor of Engineering, Chemical Engineering Completed April 2015
McMaster University, Hamilton, ON
Relevant Projects
• Capstone Project (4W4) “Process Design & Simulation” where the goal was to design and explore the feasibility of a biofuels production plant in Ontario
-Selected biofuel, viable feedstocks, process pathway, plant size, plant location and performed economic analysis
-Performed sizing and selection of process units (i.e. distillation columns, reactors)
-Completed process simulation using ASPEN Plus software to compile estimates of mass & energy balances and optimize raw material usage within process
-Generated Piping & Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) of process flowsheet using Microsoft VISIO, taking into account process operability, flexibility, and safety. Performed HAZOP analysis on section of flowsheet.
-Developed control schemes for process flowsheet to ensure control is maintained over important parameters within the process (i.e. levels, pressures, temperatures etc.) to maintain safe and reliable process operation.
-Performed in-depth economic analysis of process to estimate initial investment, return on investment (ROI), capital/operating/maintenance costs and future profits
-Performed GHG emissions analysis on process flowsheet to determine environmental effects of given process in terms of equivalent CO2 emissions
-Compiled thorough report outlining all factors outlined above in a professional manner and presentation
• Design of experiments project performed in Advanced Engineering Statistics (4C3) course created to analyze statistical data. Purpose was to effectively build and design a specific set of experiments to gather meaningful statistical data.
-Trials were run in a fractional factorial manner, designing Resolution III or IV experiments, depending on desired level of analysis (i.e. screening, characterization etc.).
-Desired confounding pattern selected based on defining relationship and experiments were randomized and designed for blocking of disturbances or nuisance variables
-Results were analyzed using visual data and linear regression was used to develop a system model which could be used for making future predictions
-R was utilized for building model along with analyzing and visualizing data
• Optimization-based project (4G3) completed with the aid of GAMS software.
-Developed a non-linear programming problem based on actual data, which was implemented and solved through the use of GAMS. Objective function was developed with necessary constraints involved with optimizing the location of an Ethanol distribution plant in Ontario
