July Saw Record 3-Month Growth in New York Jobs
The Department of Labor’s latest figures show the largest three-month gain on record in New York State, with (nearly) every region and sector picking up the pace.
19.3k new jobs were created in New York just this July, driving statewide unemployment to the lowest levels in seven years. Upstate still leads NYC with 0.6% fewer unemployed.
The largest year-on-year gain in private sector jobs in New York occurred in NYC (+3.0%), Buffalo (+2.7%), and Ithaca (2.5%), all of which are growing faster than the national average.

The only sector to lose jobs between July of 2014 and 2015 was mining and resource extraction, which shed 300 jobs year-on-year.
